STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO PURCHASING A SUPPRESSOR

MAKE THE SHOT.
NOT
THE NOISE.

What is a Suppressor?

Suppressors, also known as silencers, are legal to own in Iowa and many other states.  Suppressors offer benefits like reduced firearm noise, improved shooting, comfort, and better hearing protection.  Purchasing a suppressor involves navigating federal regulations under the National Firearms Act (NFA), and can be an intimidating process.  Let Lick Creek Arms help simplify this process for you by handling the in-house fingerprinting, photograph, and electronic Form 4 submission to the ATF greatly reducing the time to process your NFA paperwork. Count on Lick Creek Arms as your trusted partner for a streamlined, stress-free, and professional suppressor buying experience.

Explore our selection and use our knowledgeable team to help choose the best suppressor for your firearm, budget, and shooting needs.

HOW TO GET STARTED

1.  SELECT  YOUR SUPPRESSOR

Begin by choosing a suppressor that fits your firearm and shooting needs.  Lick Creek Arms offers a variety of suppressors for different calibers and firearm types.  Check out our in-stock and available to order suppressors on this website.  We must have your suppressor here to start the ATF Form 4 application, as the serial number will be required. If a desired suppressor is not listed, contact us and we can likely get it.

2.  DECIDE ON OWNERSHIP TYPE:  INDIVIDUAL vs TRUST

Individual Ownership- This is the most common type of ownership and is simpler and easier to set up.  This limits the suppressor use to you alone and those in your immediate presence.

Trust-This allows multiple people (trustees) to legally possess and use the suppressor. This takes a bit more time, work, and expense to set up.  Lick Creek Arms can set this type of ownership up for you if desired.

3.  CREATE AN ATF EFORMS ACCOUNT

Go to https://eforms.atf.gov/ and sign up for the free ATF account.  This will be required to submit an electronic Form 4 to the ATF.  Be sure to not delete or lose your username, password, or PIN number.  This information will be needed to sign your ATF Form 4 for submission.

4.  COMPLETE AND SUBMIT REQUIRED ATF FORMS

We've got your back-  Lick Creek Arms handles all the necessary ATF forms and walks you through the process start to finish at no extra cost.  This includes taking electronic fingerprints, passport style photograph, and final submission of ATF Form 4, which is the application for transfer and registration of a suppressor.  This process takes about 20-30 minutes.  We insure everything is properly submitted.  A separate ATF Form 4 is required for each suppressor, and a $200 tax stamp is required for each suppressor for which the form 4 is submitted prior to December 31, 2025.  The customer will make this one-time payment by credit card when finalizing and submitting your application.  This $200 tax stamp goes away January 1, 2026, however the process of submitting the ATF Form 4 will remain.

5.  AWAIT ATF APPROVAL

Most individual Form 4 approvals are currently coming back within a week or two, sometimes within 1-2 days.  Trusts take a little longer.  Once approved, you will receive an email from the ATF with your approved tax stamp and Form 4.  Once  you have an approved Form 4, you can stop in and pick up your suppressor.  You will be required to complete a Form 4473, the same form used for gun purchases and transfers.  Once the Form 4473 is completed, you can take your suppressor home.
