About Us

 

Lick Creek Arms LLC was started in 2021 by Chris and Tonya Flynn near Birmingham, Iowa.  Chris was born and raised in southeast Iowa and is a life-long hunter, shooter, and sportsman.  Following high school in Keota, Iowa, Chris attended Iowa State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Biology with a minor in Criminal Justice.  Chris began his career in law enforcement as a summer Water Patrol Officer for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources in 1993, and worked as a Cedar Rapids Police Officer before being hired full time by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources as a State Conservation Officer in 1997.  Chris has been a certified law enforcement firearms instructor for more than 20 years and has attended numerous firearms instructor workshops across the state and country as both a student and instructor. He has been a certified hunter education instructor for more than 30 years. 

 

Chris and his wife Tonya reside in rural Birmingham with their three children.  Chris has had a life-long interest in and a very strong passion for firearms, both as a shooter and collector.  He has been involved with the appraisal of and used as a general consultant for all things firearms related for many years.  This passion for firearms has led to the founding of Lick Creek Arms LLC in early 2021.  Chris and Tonya started the business with a clear goal of offering the best possible experience for both first-time and experienced firearms buyers.  The initial business plan was to keep prices as reasonable as possible and provide a simple, honest experience for the customer.  Our approach has helped expand inventory, and our customer base has been consistently increasing.  In the event that Lick Creek Arms is not the lowest price around, we will price match any advertised price of any southeast Iowa firearms dealer, excluding special clearance and Black Friday specials.

Lick Creek Arms carries and deals in all major brands of firearms, ammunition, optics, thermals, and shooting supplies.  We carry most brands of firearms and accessories, and if we don’t have it we can usually get it. We specialize in rapidly acquiring special orders, and oftentimes can take delivery of ordered firearms and accessories the next day.  In October of 2024, Lick Creek Arms was approved as a Benelli USA dealer and added Benelli, Franchi, Stoeger, and Uberti brands to our lines of firearms carried.  This addition made Lick Creek Arms the only privately owned and operated gun shop in southeast Iowa to carry these brands.

Firearms Consignments:

Lick Creek Arms offers consignment sales to those wanting to get top dollar for their firearms.  In addition to our shop display, we use our website, nation-wide auction sites such as Gunbroker, and our personal connections around the state and country to reach the highest number of buyers and bring top dollar for our customers.  Whether it is one firearm or a whole collection, Lick Creek Arms will help you get the most out of your guns with the most reasonable commission around.  Our standard rate for consignments is 10% of the sale price with a minimum of $30/firearm.  For larger collections or higher dollar items, we will work with the customer to achieve a commission that is workable for both us and the customer. All firearms are insured while in the possession of Lick Creek Arms LLC.

Layaway Program:

Lick Creek Arms offers a layaway program for those that choose to put a firearm or accessory on layaway.  We will tailor the layaway plan to the best fit for both the customer and us.
